Who we are
HCYLP is a nonprofit corporation operating under an independent, volunteer board of directors. We seek to enhance youth development by providing a progressive program of residential camp, mentoring and education experiences for Henderson County children who would otherwise lack such opportunity.
It is the belief of HCYLP board, committee members, and partners, that camp and related mentoring experiences offer a unique opportunity to develop independence, responsibility, confidence, character and leadership in young people. The experiences the HCYLP provides offer the potential to change lives. The hope is that the young people served by the program will become future leaders within their community, our community.
HCYLP partners include the Henderson County Public Schools, the Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County and representatives of the local summer camp community.
Following is a diagram showing the phases a participant goes through as part of the HCYLP. For complete descriptions of the program elements, please visit the Program section of this site.
