Weeklong camp
Campers recommended by Camp Bob counselors for weeklong camp are invited to attend a weeklong camp session. The summer 2010 camp was held at Camp-Ton-A-Wandah for 64 campers. HCYLP year-around participants (Pathmakers) who are not selected for full-camp scholarships are also invited to weeklong camp.
The weeklong camp at Camp Ton-A-Wandah focuses on the core values (character, community, sportsmanship, work, and fun) that are at the heart of Ton-A-Wandah’s traditional programming. The goal of the session is to provide campers with opportunities that may otherwise be unattainable, and to give campers the tools to gain self-confidence, learn to build trust among peers and elders, and work as a team through leadership exercises in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.
The program also offers opportunities for campers to participate in many different traditional camp activities such as; archery, arts and crafts, canoeing, swimming, tennis, riflery, rock climbing, basketball, volleyball, soccer, field sports, horseback riding, hiking, and others. Each camper is given a rank book for setting and tracking goals related to some of the activities.

How your contribution helps
The cost per camper for a weeklong camp session is approximately $199 per camper. Campers are asked to contribute approximately 1/3 of the tuition for weeklong camp ($65 for 2010). The camper contribution to tuition is sometimes paid or supplemented by the camper’s school. HCYLP and/or the Boys & Girls Club may also pay/supplement camper tuition if it becomes the reason a camper may not be able to participate. In addition to offsetting HCYLP expenses, the idea behind the tuition contribution is to engage a greater level of commitment to the opportunity from the camper and their family.
